Gifts that save lives

Buy a gift that saves lives for Christmas!

Are you someone who is always late with your Christmas shopping? Don’t worry, there’s still time!

We’re truly grateful to all those buying our gifts that save lives and those who support us on a regular basis," says Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council, Jan Egeland.

So far this year, our supporters have bought a total of 2,000 gifts that save lives, raising 70,000 euros towards helping families forced to flee. Join in and buy a gift that means something to more than just the person receiving it.

When you purchase a gift that saves lives, you give two gifts in one. You help children and families fleeing from war and conflict, and you give a meaningful gift card to make a loved one happy. Our gift packs are examples of NRC’s work. We always use the money we collect where it is most needed.

We assisted more than nine million people last year

With the help of our supporters, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) provided assistance to 9.1 million displaced people in 2019. Never before in our 75-year history have we reached out to so many people in need of help and protection.

“Families forced to flee have at the top of their wish list the things they need the most: a place to keep warm and safe, education for their children and food on the table,” says Egeland.Ads_web_GMM_1024x448_ENG4.jpg

Over three million people in 2019 benefitted from clean water and improved sanitation and hygiene conditions through NRC’s work. This is crucial to preventing the spread of diseases, including Covid-19.

Nearly two million received food assistance from us, or help to earn their own income. More than 1.5 million got help with obtaining a temporary or permanent home. A similar number received legal assistance and advice, 1.2 million received educational support, while almost half a million lived in NRC-run displacement camps. Many displaced people received several types of assistance.

In 2021, we wish to help even more families survive the winter, enrol more children in school and provide more families forced to flee with a safe place to call “home”.
