This study seeks to identify challenges faced by displaced Somali women in urban areas to exercising their Housing, Land and Property Rights (HLP), and offer realistic and practical recommendations for support as well as find durable solutions.

This paper examines women’s HLP rights in Somali systems of land management, specifically within marital property and inheritance customs found in religious and traditional structures, and whether women can actually access these rights. The conclusion offers observations and recommendations for actors wishing to empower Somali women in exercising their HLP rights.
