Gaza: the Impact of Conflict on Women

Published 15. Nov 2015
This report focuses on the impact of the ongoing occupation, conflict, and Israeli imposed blockade on women’s lives in Gaza.

The report relies on focus group discussions with women who recount their experiences from the July-August 2014 Israeli military occupation in Gaza. Following a background of the conflict in Gaza, this study analyses the applicable protections owed to civilians under the principles of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), particularly the provisions for women. The concluding recommendations target UN agencies and NGOs on expanding protective measures for women.

This report has been produced by the Norwegian refugee Council (NRC) with assistance from the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (NMFA).
