In 2023, we worked in 40 of the most conflict-affected countries in four continents. Here are some of the results.
In Afghanistan, over 100,000 children and young people received help with schooling and education. Education provides safety and opportunities for the future and is one of the most important things we provide. In Syria, more than 200,000 people were helped to find a temporary or permanent home. A home is more than four walls and a roof, it provides protection and hope. In 2023, more than 370,000 people in South Sudan received access to clean water and improved sanitation, which is crucial to preventing the spread of disease. Almost 450,000 people in Yemen received food aid or help to support themselves. In Ukraine, we reached almost 600,000 people, but where we reached the most was in Somalia, where more than 1.8 million people received support from the Norwegian Refugee Council.
