Report launch - Neglected displacement crises in a world in crisis

Updated 30. May 2023
The Norwegian Refugee Council invites you to the launch of its annual report on the world’s ten most neglected displacement crises.

What happens to people affected by forgotten and protracted crises, when the world is hit by a perfect storm of new conflicts, climate crisis and skyrocketing food insecurity?

The Ukraine response has showed the power of mobilization. What does it take for the same support to be extended to a person caught up in conflict in the Sahel or Sudan?

Time: Thursday 1 June, 09:00–10:00 Oslo time (coffee and breakfast from 08:30)
Place: The Norwegian Refugee Council’s office in Prinsensgate 2, Oslo, Norway, or follow the livestream.

The event begins with an interview with NRC’s incoming Regional Director for West Africa, Hassane Hamadou, about the situation for people affected by neglected crises, followed by a panel discussion with:

  • Gunn Jorid Roset, Deputy Director General, Department for multilateral affairs, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Will Worley, Climate Correspondent for Devex
  • Siri Aas Rustad, Research Director at Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO)
  • Jan Egeland, Secretary General of NRC
