In Iran, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) works in collaboration with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to respond to the education and protection needs of Afghan refugees.

“I went to the bank yesterday to fill out a form, I usually go to this bank and the employees know me. One of the men working there looked at me and asked if I needed help to fill out the form, and I answered confidently that I can write it myself. It made me feel really good," said Hekmat, one of the participants in the project, which started in October 2016.

Parenting and education

The project combines trainings on parenting, child protection, literacy and numeracy, in addition to providing conditional cash transfers to the families.

NRC works in partnership with the State Welfare Organization (SWO) and the department of Literacy Movement Organizations (LMO) of the Directorate of Education (DoE) to implement the project.
