Disaster Displacement: How to Reduce Risk, Address Impacts and Strengthen Resilience

Published 15. Apr 2021
The UNDRR Words into Action (WiA) guide Disaster Displacement: How to Reduce Risk, Address Impacts and Strengthen Resilience offers practical guidance to help governments integrate disaster displacement into their Disaster Risk Reduction strategies, policies and laws.

The guide provides basic background information on disaster displacement and human mobility and an overview of how the Sendai Framework addresses disaster displacement.

Under the Sendai Framework’s four priorities for action, it proposes actions to reduce, prepare for and respond to disaster displacement at all levels. Effective practices are illustrated with examples and case studies. The WiA guide was launched at GP19 and is available in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.
