The guide provides basic background information on disaster displacement and human mobility and an overview of how the Sendai Framework addresses disaster displacement.
Under the Sendai Framework’s four priorities for action, it proposes actions to reduce, prepare for and respond to disaster displacement at all levels. Effective practices are illustrated with examples and case studies. The WiA guide was launched at GP19 and is available in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.

Disaster Displacement in Regional and National Policies in the IGAD Region
Together with our partners, such as the Platform on Disaster Displacement, we work closely with the IGAD secretariat and their Member States to strengthen the integration of displacement and protection considerations into national and regional DRR, climate change adaptation, displacement and migration policies.
A mapping commissioned by NRC and IGAD, and supported by the Platform on Disaster Displacement and UNDRR, analyses the extent to which the prevention of displacement, the protection of the displaced, and the facilitation of durable solutions have been integrated into existing national and regional policies in the IGAD region.
