Three more years in partnership for refugees' rights

Published 22. Mar 2018
Displaced people are often deprived of their rights. Together with law firm Kluge, we have spent six years strengthening the competency we need to help them with their legal challenges. Now, in 2018, we’re extending the partnership with three more years

Kluge has assisted our legal team since 2012, and has become one of our most important corporate partners.

The extension of the partnership paves way for our organisations to work together on larger, time committed and comprehensive projects.

Kluge has been a loyal partner for several years, and we see that our long-term work together is of great importance for our commitment to the world’s refugees.

Working together for long-term solutions

The partnership includes the exchange of competence and knowledge, and legal assistance along with major projects. The new three-year agreement involves the expansion of both financial and professional support between the law firm and the humanitarian organisation.

"We in Kluge are happy to continue the cooperation. Working together for long-term goals is valuable for both parties," says Snorre Haukali, Managing Partner in Kluge.

In recent years, Kluge has helped us shape an ethical framework used by our lawyers who provide legal counselling for refugees and displaced people in the countries where we work.

"With Kluge’s support, NRC becomes more professional and efficient," says Egeland.

Valuable support

In recent years, Kluge has provided financial support for many of our campaigns concerning the rights of children displaced by war and conflict.

"Their goodwill and active involvement is exemplary. Kluge is a good example of a company that exercises corporate social responsibility in practice," says Egeland.

Kluge's lawyers also strive to ensure that our work is in line with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority’s new privacy policy, strengthening the ethical frameworks we have worked hard in partnership to create.

Kluge's lawyers look forward to using the new three year agreement to help us in ensuring the rights of people displaced by armed conflict and disasters.

"Our close cooperation with the Norwegian Refugee Council is popular among our employees. It provides a different perspective on legal work, and brings forward exciting challenges that go far beyond the issues we usually deal with," says Bosse Langaas, Head of Strategy & Operations in Kluge.
