# IDMC Consultancy - Good Practices Research and Knowledge

Invitation to bid.

Published 19. Oct 2026

The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) is the world's definitive source of data and analysis on internal displacement. Since our establishment in 1998 as part of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), we have offered a rigorous, independent and trusted service to the international community. Our work informs policy and operational decisions that improve the lives of the millions of people living in internal displacement, or at risk of becoming displaced in the future.

IDMC has developed a global repository of good practices that documents concrete examples of how governments and other actors are improving their approaches to internal displacement. The repository covers the displacement cycle, including practices that strengthen evidence and data, prevent and reduce displacement risk, improve responses and support durable solutions.

The next phase of work will focus on strengthening the quality and coverage of the repository and translating the accumulated evidence into practical lessons for national authorities. IDMC expects to receive additional practices through targeted outreach and a possible public call implemented with partners. These submissions will require consistent review, editing, formatting and redrafting, where appropriate, before publication.

In parallel, IDMC seeks a systematic analysis of the good practices currently documented in the repository, supplemented by relevant incoming practices. The analysis will focus primarily on practices addressing disaster displacement and will identify the principal actions, enabling conditions and considerations that countries should take into account when developing and implementing related measures and policies.

Practices and lessons relating to conflict displacement may be considered where relevant to complex situations in which disaster and conflict dynamics coexist, overlap or influence displacement risks, impacts and responses.
