# Neglected displacement crises

Millions are displaced by conflict, persecution and disasters – but their stories are too often overlooked by the media and world leaders.

How many articles have you seen about the hunger crisis in **the Democratic Republic of the Congo**? Have you heard about the entrenched presence of criminal groups in **Honduras**? Did you know that almost 500,000 people have been displaced by armed conflict and disasters in **Mozambique**?

The lack of headlines reflects a lack of political interest. While needs escalate, international efforts to address the root causes of these crises stall or are simply abandoned. And it’s much harder for humanitarian organisations, like the Norwegian Refugee Council, to attract funding to support those in need. As a result, millions of displaced people remain unseen, unsupported, and increasingly unreachable.

**We’re here to tell you about the displacement crises no-one talks about.** Each year, we publish a report of the ten most neglected displacement crises in the world.

[![See the list of the world's most neglected displacement crises here.](https://www.nrc.no/globalassets/fr2026/neglected/neglected-displacement-crises-2025.jpg)](https://www.nrc.no/feature/2026/the-worlds-most-neglected-displacement-crises-2025 "The world's most neglected displacement crises")

The purpose is to focus on the plight of people whose suffering rarely makes international headlines. People who receive little or no assistance, and who live amid crises that never become the centre of attention for international diplomacy efforts. You may not hear about them in the news, but we ask you to listen.
