Evaluation Report:
Small-small steps to rebuild communities with YEP
Tip a friendPrint
The purpose of the evaluation is to obtain an independent assessment of the post graduate situation of the YEP youth, in order to learn more about both special challenges and successful aspects of their starting income generation.

The YEP project in Liberia was designed in 2005 based on experiences gained by NRC in implementing a similar project in  neighbouring Sierra Leone. There are currently YEP  programmes in ten countries. The objective of YEP has been quite  consistent since 2005.

The general objectives formulated by NRC for all YEP programmes are for the learners to:

  • become functionally literate, mastering basic and relevant literacy and numeracy
  • obtain knowledge and awareness that will further their development and awareness as individuals and as members of their societies
  • acquire a skill that is needed in the communities and that will increase their chances of
  • finding apprenticeships or paid work.
