6000 cyclone resistant shelters and up to 100 schools are going to be built within two years. In addition, many shelters will be rehabilitated before the rainy season.

NRC has completed the construction of five schools for children affected by the cyclone in the Ayeyarwaddy delta.

In October 2008, NRC opened its Myanmar Country Office in Yangon, and thereby established its presence in the country for the next upcoming years.
